I watched it all last night. Ben Hogg cracks me the fuck up. I thought the EYEHATEGOD/NOLA parts were the most entertaining part of the film, from my Yankee perspective, so I'm glad to see that an actual documentary about the NOLA scene has been made. Hell, you could probably make a killer doc just about EHG if all of those guys were completely forthcoming, although it wouldn't be the same without Joey's perspective.

Overall, it was lot more professionally done than I was expecting. Kind of a trip considering the smallish size of the scene and the prospective watching audience.

The trailer of the film I'm referring to above:

I enjoyed Slow Southern Steel. You had your Ben Hogg, your toothless Kirk Fisher, your PBR tall boys, your stars and bars. I've only been down south a couple times and one thing I noticed was a real lack of rock on the radio. That shit was invisible. Mostly it was country, preaching and booty rap, I don't know if I even saw a single metalhead either. And the fact that all the states are like twice or three times the size of mine, with half the population (Arkansas?), no thanks. They touched on that in the movie when they were talking about how Miami is nowhere near anything else...not something I think of very often, but Florida is pretty isolated if you're trying to drive. I'll stick with the Northeast where I can be in like ten different states in six hours. Those guys would slap me if they heard me say New Haven was "too far" to go see Eyehategod.

It's a shame Soilent Green isn't too active anymore.

Agreed about Soilent Green...

I think Music Hates You broke up a couple years ago, then were gonna fire back up with Zack earlier this year then it got kinda quiet again? I'm unsure what's up now, and might be cloudy on that timeline.
I'm also looking forward to that NOLa doc..

Watched it this week...very cool! Definitely miss Soilent Green. (Mmmmmmm, Soilent Green.) "Inevitable Collapse..." is great! I still have this pointless hope that Acid Bath will re-form some day. But not at the expense of Goatwhore! They just keep getting better. Don't know how I missed out on Music Hates You? D/L'd both their releases this week (I assume there's only two?) Found one on B/C and one on CDBaby. III is the man! "Goin' Straight To Hell"! Good shit!
