Anyone here had it done? Seeking your comments and advice. I'm looking into having it done after wearing glasses for 30+ years.

come on, just laser your eyes. no research.

a co-worker had it done. his only complaint was his eyes were dry for a few days. It seems safe but yeah my inner caveman is stopping me.

I remember my dad getting it maybe fifteen years ago. First eye went fine, the second, he had some kind of bump in his cornea from an injury as a child, so rather than removing the epithelium, they had to burn the laser right through it. He screamed and writhed in pain at home for a few hours before whatever sedative finally kicked in.

But otherwise I think the result was about normal. Works pretty well for a while, but the eyes gradually deteriorate again later on.

Needless to say, I have never had the procedure done and have no plans to do so.

My future brother-in-law and mother-in-law had the procedure done some time ago and they swear by it, for what that's worth.

My sister got it a year or two ago and is very happy. She's been lobbying me to get it done but I am reluctant. I don't have any real issues with wearing glasses, don't like the idea that it is not a permanent fix, and am hesitant to be willing to accept the consequences were something to go wrong (which I know is not likely, but still....).

Got my consult appt. for this Tuesday. I hope i'm a good candidate. My near-sighted correction isn't very bad and hasn't changed much over 30+ years. No astigmatism. Wanting to make being more active/water sports/basketball/futbol a permanent part of my life is pushing me to get this done. Night vision in bed will be nice too. But i'll still be keep my glasses. Thinking about putting reading Rx lenses in after my eyes have fully adjusted after ~3 months. I have some vintage/vintage style frames that i like wearing.

If I ever change my mind and go for it, it will be for the night vision.

I had it done years ago. The day after the surgery I had the vision of a marksman elf!
Vacations to other countries have been all the more enjoyable with not having to worry about blurry/itchy contacts.

Heh. I'd be happy just to have the vision of yer average intrepid Hobbit.

More freedom to travel the globe w/o worry about my Rx glasses & sunglasses will be another plus.

I never had Lasik, but I have had retina laser surgery done on one of my eyes. I don't know how much different Lasik is as far as the sensation is, but if it's anything like what I had it's not too bad. It doesn't hurt, but it is uncomfortable. Like a barrage of stings on the inside of the eye. The hardest part was keeping still and trying to blink as little as possible.

Right? Because it's a LASER SHOOTING IN YOUR FUCKING EYE!!!

I've thought about it, but it freaks me out too much. That, and the several thousand dollars per eye.

Not worth the risk if you don't need it, in fact they won't even promote, there's plenty that need it already.

My old boss was looking into it.
He changed his mind after he noticed that all the doctors were wearing glasses.

Holy shit, i just realized my eye doctor was wearing glasses too. he said I'd be a good candidate for it though. they recommend you go to a specific lasik provider, probably get a commission.

I got lasik to repair a torn cornea a few years ago, the pain and recovery were minimal. A little different since I wasn't getting it for vision, but I'd still recommend it. Easy process, also fun to smell burning and realize it's your eyeball.

Had mine done end of July, and thoroughly recommend it.

They put some aenesthesia on each eye, sit you back in a big chair, place a ring over one eye first so you can't blink or look around, then exert some pressure on it and your vision goes black. You hear some clicking, after about 15 seconds you can see again, then it's the light show, kinda like going on Space Mountain over at disney world. Lots of white, and blue lasers for another 20/30 seconds, then the doctor seals the corneal flap which is the really weird part. You don't feel it, but they move your vision at their will. Then they do the process again for the other eye. No problem.

Overall I was in the chair for 5 minutes. When the aenesthesia wears off, it's a fucking bitch, but heck you've just had laser eye surgery, if it didn't something's wrong. I felt it was a little expensive, however as I'm 22 long sight vision until my 40s was argument enough. Good luck to you in October.

Everybody I've asked recommends the proceedure but they also still wear eyeglasses. Whats with that? If I were to get it the eyeglasses would half to go! Only reason to do it.
