Obviously on a creative high, right now those STONER d00ds! Cannot wait for a proper new CD release to kill my eardrums and neighbors with!! Heh.

Really dig the more exacting production values and songwriting dynamic ebb and flow here. The "Everything Louder than Everything else" type ethos really only works for one band.

As a fan of Dopesmoker/Jerusalem but not the rest, this one is right up my alley. Great first listen.

Apparently recorded by Noah Landis of Neurosis. That sort of makes this one of those recordings where I really wish I was in the room to see.

Holy Fuckin' Timewarp, eh?

Totally rules and is completely consistent with the modern trajectory these guys have gone on within their own paths. I've heard complaints about the OM influence in this, but I am not hearing it at all. This fucking ROCKS!!! Best stuff from Pike in a decade. The legend of SLEEP...

it's really mostly just Om with guitars. But it's still good.

Holy. Hell.
I thought the dick sucking was bad with Advaitic songs. Are you guys fuckin kidding?
This is boring as fuck.
Sounds like a throwaway track from the Variations on a Theme sessions and Matt Pike is all sober and bored as fuck playing guitar over it.

really? boring? I would give my left nut for some throwaway track off of Variations, that was a GREAT album that I still listen to.
Matt sounds bored? c'mon... that riff of his is pretty badass. For me, I would say it is better than a lot of his work on his past three High on Fire albums (death, snakes, and vermis), I had lost interest. This is the Matt Pike I love. I missed him... I saw Sleep live earlier this year in Santa Cruz, Matt did not look bored.
And about Al... perfect. Voice + Bass = Stoner Heaven.

I guess some people like vanilla and some like chocolate.

Ten, maybe even five years ago, I'm sure I'd have gotten a total stoner boner for this. I never thought pot had THAT much of an influence on my musical tastes, but after a few years of not smoking multiple times a day every day, it is clear; I can't sit around and listen to plodding 8, even 6+ minute songs.
And I'm sure its not just the lack of THC in me, shit changes, ya dig?
Been on much more of a traditional 3,4,5 minute song, bombastic rock'n'roll kinda kick lately.

I think before Sleep started the "reunion" business, I held them on far too high a pedestool.
Then I saw them live, already bummed Chris wasn't there, and it disappointed me big time.
Al was a total dick when someone got on stage, only to jump right off. "Stay off the fuckin stage!" Wow, I thought this dude was a laid back stoner type.
And it just didn't SOUND like Holy Mountain sounded on the Ford Contour stereo as we baked that mother fucker out ala '02, '03.

Blah, blah, anyhow, enjoy yall.

I like it. Sounds like Om's and High On Fire's first albums had a bastard lovechild.

It's not blowing my mind or drastically altering my world, though it was a really fun way to waste 10 minutes of my life.

I miss Chris Hakius... riffs are not as good as before but the guitar solo is decent and the lyrics are good.

Not a bad song overall, but not as good as before. Goes good with this Cannabutter on my mashed potatoes however.

(I will still play this on the air lol.)

No doubt Roeder is an amazing drummer, but I can't help but miss Chris. Chris has a very distinct, deliberate way of playing the drums that can't be duplicated.

I can definitely hear some Variations of a Theme influence in the track...which works in its favor for me.

And I will also back the "I miss Hakius" bandwagon.

Agreed.. Chris would carry those riffs wayy better imo,but still an okay song.

Been thinking about it all day actually.. Found the lyrics:

The Clarity

From the temple stone
Smokes the lambsbread
Through dream, sleep and in waking.

Toward the weed fields
To That which holds the worlds
Walks the Sinsemillian.

Refutes death
Remains stoned constantly
The dealer breaks the eclipse.

Backpatch.
All are stoned thereafter.

Stoned chariot ascending
Smokes the true believer.

Life complete
The dealer is my refuge.

Heavy dry weight
Hasheeshian smoked relief.

Backpatch.
Iommic life complete.

The words are dumb as fuck and kinda kill it for me a bit.

I need lyrics that I can relate to emotionally in a song, and these certainly aren't that...

I like Roeder's drumming much better, actually.

Then again, I like Emil MUCH better in Om...

There are only so many times one can turn nouns into verbs (and vice versa) without sounding stupid...

I like the lyrics ;) May not be speaking something incredibly intellectual, but still poetic imo.

The Sinsemillian returns dammit! Those lyrics are brilliant.
