The Budos Band is killer.
Couple of related bands worth checking out:

Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings

El Michels Affair, though I've only heard the instrumental Wu-tang tribute.

El Michels Affair is bad-ass in their own right.

I'm angling to seeing these guys on Friday, but I tried buying tix online and a $20 ticket had a $8 service fee attached to it, which really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm going to hold out until the last minute and try to pay $20 to get in at the door. I can afford the online price, it's just a matter or principle. This town is so all over the place that I may walk in at a discount or it could sell out tomorrow. Rollin' thee dice....

Hell yeah, picked up the new one. Good stuff. I hadn't checked them out before but people have been talking about 'em so I figured I'd get on it. Saw the CD on sale for $9.99 and picked it up. I dig it.

Last week I bought a ticket through Ticketmaster that was $16 + $11 in fees (even with print at home), a 70% service fee!! I was travelling out of state for the show so I wasn't going to go without a ticket so I bought one anyway. Show was nowhere close to sold out but ruled and was ultimately 'worth it'- Dean Ween Group at the famous Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ, right down the street from Deaner's deep-sea fishing guide business.

Budos Band is playing the always-nice 930 Club in DC this Friday with Electric Citizen, might have to ride up and check it out.

The El Michels Wu Tang album is pretty cool, but this is the record to get(one of the best records to come out of NYC between 2000-2010 imo).

Fuck yeah, L. Ron. All of the El Michels stuff is rock solid. Menahan Street Band deserves a mention in this thread too. This record is dope:

Good lookin' L.Ron. Heard there was a reissue coming, but didn't know about the bonus tracks.

And because I love my buddies at the record store, here's some live Budos in the vinyl dungeon:

This is awesome! Thanks... All this stuff reminds me of the 90's Acid Jazz days at the Elbo Room in SF.

Live show in Cambridge MA was great, really heavy last weekend, thicker bass, guitar and organ. Only 7 members for this show. Electric Citizen also awesome, what a frontwoman!
