Yeah, pretty derivative stuff, but that's never been a deal breaker for me!

Very cool. For something totally different, you should check out Ron's newest incarnation: Qosmic Qey.

DNice, saw them last night in Charlotte w/ CoC/Pep (CoC brought it w/ a heavy dose of Deliverance and Wiseblood stuff). Clutch kicked unholy amounts of ass. It was my 10th time and it might be the best performance of theirs I've seen (Gaster was especially on fire on the skins). "Psychic Warfare" is definitely a continuation of the Earth Rocker style.........chock full of hooky fast numbers with the inimitable Fallon penned lyrics, but I'm of the opinion that the Machine produced records are their best.......Blast Tyrant along with Earth Rocker and likely this one. They're such a tight unit. Love em! Enjoy the show!

As autumn is here I embarked upon a Neurosis binge yesterday, and realised I don't remember ever listening to The Word As Law.
Putting that right this morning, can see why I would have hated it when I was just getting into the band but there's some good stuff going on there. Halfway through, been a couple of moments that sound a bit cheesy twenty five years on but on the whole this stands up and is FIERCE.

clutch - after Earth Rocker my excitement for a new one has dwindled, which is scary. Is it me? Is it the band? I'll check it out, expect it's good!

'The Word as Law' is an interesting one. It was the transitional album between their early punk origin to the band they eventually became/settled into. That was Steve Von Till's first album and having him joining changed that band forever.

I guess they're playing some 30th anniversary shows in the Bay Area over New Years and they plan on playing one track from each one of their albums and I'm the most curious to hear what they'll end up playing off of this one. They're not a band that looks backwards very much, so it's pretty cool they'll be doing this.
