I gave up on them after 'Vulcano'. Any band attempting "black n' roll" or "death n' roll" just ultimately sounds corny to me.

This is different from Volcano and the kind of stuff Darkthrone has been doing for years now. I wouldn't call it black 'n' roll, which is basically just Motorhead meets Venom, to me anyway. This is more like early Satyricon style songs but with 70's retro production and a random commercially acceptable clean-vocal anthem type song stuffed in.

Not bad. Kind of a dirtier, heavier FHJ. Also been spinning a lot of ZZ Top's First Album, Fleetwood Mac "Then Play On", new Electric Wizard, and that Old Man's Will record got a well enjoyed spin after taking a break from it for a months—killer rock record!

Guilty pleasure. Recently found in the bins, cheap. Quality James Brown inspired modern FUNK!
Sounds really fuckin' good on wax too. Hearing loads of details that get lost on the radio.

I'm a sucker for lo-fi haunting girl acoustic guitar.

Kind of like Vashti Bunyan and Linda Perhacs..

Check out Grouper (Liz Harris), D74. New CD/LP out on Halloween. Already got mine pre-ordered. Very cool, haunted acoustic based wyrdly folky stuff. Loads of tracks on the youtoob.

Sleeping on the Grouper I see. LC is stuck, so dont expect timely recommendations..product of man caves and what not..a worthy recommendation regardless..made the tail end of my top list of like 20 years ago.

That Ill Omen stuff you posted was rad. I'm gonna pick that up I think. I'm so far behind, more than I've ever been since the internet came around, but I guess it comes with age. I'll have to check out this other stuff you've posted later. Right now I'm spinning 'Prince of Darkness' soundtrack! :)
