It's extra special sweet always when you & your squeeze dig the same album. I love watching my wife have fun & dance around the house & it's always cooler when it's Alice Cooper, Grand Funk, or one of the Doors LPs I like.

Picked up a nice stack last night.

Killing Joke - What's This For
Lydia Lunch - 13:13
Millions of Dead Cops
Magazine - Real Life
Magazine - Play
Gram Parsons w/Fallen Angels
Pere Ubu - Song Of The Bailing Man
Pere Ubu - Art Of Walking
Velvet Underground w/Nico
Velvet Underground - Loaded
Warhorse - Vulture Blood

...that'll be Communion, chilean black metal. Plus, with the ticket to a recent concert there was some freebies: Colombia's NEBIROS (black metal) and Paraguay's EKRON CULT (Death Metal). Not bad stuff indeed, specially Nebiros...

As I am still 'camping' in China with no real 'place to call my own', I'm not really buying things, but, because of the nice friendly person I am, bands tend to give me stuff:

- last summer Fever Machine (American expats from Shanghai) gave me their cd, Living in Oblivion. Somewhat soulful, fairly poppy/melodic stoner. They come over again next Saturday to present their new 7" EP (yes, VINYL) next Saturday, first 50 people in get a free one, so I'll get there early (and go to the craft brewery around the block after I collected).
- two months ago Bad Mamasan (also American expats, but from Beijing) presented their 5 song EP (CD) Darwin Backfire. 'Old school metal' sort of describes the sound, but oddly enough the bass has 5 strings and the guitar 7, so that's defo NOT old school. Solid metal band. Hope they keep writing more stuff, because last year they were still doing covers, and their own songs are great. Okay, I had to pay entrance to the show which included a 'free' cd and a free beer, so this was a purchase.
- twoo weeks ago I went to the same bar as for Darwin Backfire and the show next Saturday to see a punkband Thee Oops. Name sounded familiar, turns out they're from Italy.... think, think.... Hey wait a minute!!! I saw them last February in good old Leiden in my favorite squat. I told the band, I immediately was named their biggest fan, being the only one in the audience seeing them for the second time, and got their new CD, Happy Charlie. Solid 80s style (American) hardcore, they did a Minor Threat cover on their first album.

Congratulations on that. I just got a message from Jelle about that split 10" this morning. Bummed that I didn't have the money to see them in Japan 1,5 months ago.

All vinyl:

Mars red sky - Mars red sky
Spacemen 3 - Sound of confusion (repress)
Captain beyond - Captain beyond (Japanese press)
Battlestar galactica OST
The black hole OST
Silent running OST
Blue cheer - Vincebus eruptum (mono reissue)
Smack - On you
Queen's nectarine machine - The mystical powers of roving tarot gamble

Also, while dodging rockets in Tel Aviv, I had half a day to check the local stores. Found two places, but no scores.

Hell, your day would've been pretty complete right there. I know it never got much love around SR.com, but I think the 2nd Captain Beyond record is pretty good, too.

Picked up my Fu Manchu & Leo Kottke records from the local place. Found a couple other treasures, too.

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds mono, still in the shrink wrap for $12.
The Doors - An American Prayer still got the book glued inside.
Ian Hunters - All-American Alien Boy
Paul Revere & The Raiders - Just Like Us

Aluk Todolo - Occult Rock on vinyl.

I had it on cd, but getting it on vinyl was a must for me.

I'm not sure what to make of it right now. I should mention it wasn't sealed, even though the original shirnkwrap had been left on it. I checked Completed Listings on eBay & there are some go for $200+, but others up for $25 that don't even draw a bid. Plenty of high dollar sales on popsike.com, too.

Regardless, I am thrilled to have it. The local place was offering 20% off for Black Friday, so it was $15 marked down to $12. Forget "Wouldn't It Be Nice" or "Sloop John B." They are great, but I am still floored by "That's Not Me", "I Know There's An Answer", "Here Today", & the rest of it. One of the rare records, whose legend is ridiculous, yet still isn't really overrated.

Finally found Fluid's Punch 'n' Judy, the only Fluid I was missing.

One the best garage rock bands of all time, IMHO.

Wow! Nice haul! I'm a total sucker for test pressings, but why wouldn't you be except for the fact that sometimes they really don't sound that hot. From the notorious Rainbo no less!
