90's old school track the biz. Consider it a request for your show with Da Man.

GETO BOYS is well, urm...kinda ghetto. Tasty samples and fun loops/beats, but the rhymin' is kinda rudimentary & content so bad that it's kinda good bad. Charmingly deformed and unfinished. Like 70's Punk Rock and/or 80's Death Metal in a way.

What took me so long to get to this? Crushing EC Boom-Bap with amazing production values.
Recommended. Glad the gangsta flow and lyrics are tucked nicely underneath the brilliant loops and beats. I'd like this alot less if not so. Nothing more annoying to me than an aggro flow that tops all the other elements of a track.

Wow I haven't heard any Mobb Deep since the late 90's. My breakdancing step-brothers I grew up with were very heavily into hip-hop at that time, and were huge Mobb Deep fans so they were literally inescapable for me.Around that time I was really getting into stoner rock though and some hip-hop just went in one ear,out the other.

In hindsight though, they were a good group although looking into it they were very much just studio gangstas frontin'. Still entertaining though and their beats were pretty dope.

Lately I scored a copy of Nas' Nastradamus on CD. ;)

I try to not get too wrapped up in and/or affected by "Authenticity" type stuff. Is it something i wanna hear again or not? That's the key thing for me.

90's Trip Hop also does the business and opens up a whole 'nuther realm to explore if so inclined.

I agree actually. One of the reasons why I dig Rick Ross even though he used to be a cop,but fronts as if he's a gangsta now. Good beats nonetheless! And Vanilla Ice's 2nd one is actually underrated.

Little late to this thread, but I am looking for the "death metal" of modern rap. Not rap about worm-infested corpses, but the artists that are doing really extreme/different/heavy rap. Who is pushing the boundaries, be it complex or simple, and when you hear it the first time you think, "holy shit man, I ain't never heard anything like that." I did some googling and didn't find much.

Been getting my interviews up on Youtube lately. Please checkout this one I did with the Beastie Boys drummer...

At the end I did a mashup of a Snoop Dogg beat with that Beasties feat.NAS,and even did my own turntable scratching!!!! Still working on interviewing DMC soon.

One more Ninja Tune joint. Slamming fusion of styles. Could call this track "proto-Dub Step,"
but i won't cuz Dub Step is utter shit.

And Death Metal Hip-Hop? Hmmmm....gimme a minute to contemplate that.
