I know I'm about 4 months late but Rusty Brookes posted a vid on page 1 of this thread called 'Melbourne Sharpies', the backing track is a tune by an early 70's Australian band called the Coloured Balls-- f***ing great tune! The song is call 'GOD'. There's alot of their stuff up on youtube (I'd post links if I knew how) very hard rocking stuff. I'm blown away!! Must see!

For you Adamo. If you're after one album get Ball Power which is incredible. I got to see them live a couple of times just before Lobby Lloyd (guitarist/lead vocals) died. He's a bit of a legend down here. He also produced some of the hardest and best Australian bands on vinyl (X, Sunnyboys, Depression)

Chic and any/all Nile Rodgers productions have slowly moved from "Guilty Pleasure" status to being proudly filed next to Cheap Trick LPs in my collection. This BBC docu helped alot in that.

Dear libertycaps, this thread is awesome. It's one of the reasons I have been poking my head back in here lately, though I doubt anyone remembers me. Anyway, is there some kind of introduction to dub music if I wanted to get into it? Also would you be able to identify the songs in that documentary at about the 9:29 mark, and especially around 15:30, the bass on that one is amazing.

The track list starts rolling on the credits at around 1hour20min, so check that out. Seems many of the background tracks in that docu are modern dub, an area i'm esp. weak. "Dub" is kinda like "Rock" in that there's so much material/so much to know...it's insane!

Hey Druid, one of the ways I've been able to identify dub tracks is start a Pandora station. Just type in one artist like "King Tubby" and then lots of the classic tracks will play in your station and you can find the ones you like most.
