Some year huh?

It is with heavy heart that I must announce that Hour of 13 is on an indefinite hiatus. The one remaining show at Martyrdoom Fest 2013 in New York City will go on as planned, but after that no shows no interviews and no records. The massive lack of support for this band weighs heavily. Fan support is unmatched, but all other aspects support wise is a huge factor in this decision. We cannot be expected to give all and receive nothing in return. I thank every one of you for your messages of support you have shown throughout the years and hopefully this matter will be resolved and we will return, but at this point after June we are no more.
Regards to all, Chad Davis

I never posted my thoughts on here concerning how I thought the latest HO13 release was the album of the year.
I get that you dudes worship Soundgarden, The Melvins and a host of other bands that spawned Stoner Rock and not necessarily Judas Priest, Fates Warning and all of 80's metal like me.
That said, the imminent death of HO13 (a band which Andy Beresky introduced me to at cafe 9 in New Haven) signifies the end of something special.

Except for trying a tour in 2011, they weren't a real band anyway, were they?

Unrealistic expectations are unrealistic

You mean all the problems they've had with singers? Turns out Chad can sing so that wasn't a problem anymore...

too bad they couldn't hang on until after Roadburn. That's a really fun one to play.

I would imagine that the answer is no, but I'd suggest looking into it. I would also imagine that the lack of support he mentions pertains to label/publicity/distribution support. For example, a label might be able to get them a slot at Roadburn (which is awesome!), but it likely wouldn't pay for them to travel out there (which is deflating). If you can't afford to do it, then the slot doesn't do much good, unfortunately.

That's too bad, I dug them plenty. However, I have their three records to listen to when the spirit moves me.

Yeah, it has been a week of break-ups fo' sho.

I'm bummed out about this, however. I liked Hour of 13.

Never did pick up the new disc. But I love The Ritualist. I'll miss these guys more than Devil's Blood, I know that much.

That sucks. I liked both The Devil's Blood and Ho13.

Guess I'll have to throw on some Fate to get my melodic Satanic fix.

"333" was one of my favorite albums to come out last year. Bummer indeed.

Bummer indeed...I feel the same way about Eagle Twin...it's odd how such bands don't get more acclaim playing a style of music where the small - but devoted - fan base is usually on top of such things.

Nope...I was just relating to Damocles' zeal for Hour of 13 via my similar zeal for Eagle Twin...I saw Eagle Twin twice last year opening shows and wanted to strangle the numerous attendees who stepped out for a smoke or hit the bar during their set...like Hour of 13, Eagle Twin has gotten some praise from the rock/metal press, but it doesn't seem to have had any real impact with U.S. fans - which fucking sucks...not coincidentally, I saw Gates of Slumber a few days after I saw my final Eagle Twin show in a fucking Mexican restaurant.

Surely not being able to make it over for festivals due to money problem is not a reason to split a band up.

Yeah, I was trying to avoid being negative but Hour of 13 cancelled more than one show on me before including SHoD in 2011 under questionable circumstances. Now with this little petulent extortion exercise (unless some 'matter' is resolved and they 'receive' something they won't make music anymore?) I have to say I am just not interested in them any longer. Their lame behavior has effectively negated their creative worth.

Being negative is all most people got - too much Yang, not enough Yin.

I'm digging the new Chad solo project: Ambient space synth! Like Van Der Graf Generator meets Philip Glass:

You perhaps have too much Yin regarding these show-cancelling (they did it here, too, on very short notice...you could say they cancelled in the, ahem, thirteenth hour ;), entitled primadonnas, but it all somewhat balances out, 'eh?

I understand completely, the show I wanted to attend was canceled as well...

But having been in the company of both Chad and Phil (at the video shoot in Waterbury Ct.) I appreciate how difficult it is for musicians these days.
My good friend Simon Tuozolli (Vestal Claret guitar/bass) is in a similar situation.

I know Simon, friend of a friend-type deal. We met at a party years ago and it was like a metal-dude playdate, "Here you both like King Diamond you should talk about it" thing, but he turned out to be an awesome guy. His band King of Salem are good too.

Simon is a metal hippie! I take guitar lessons from him every Saturday. Playing the dual guitar harmony from Wishbone Ash - throw down the sword with him was the first time I experienced the special gift that musicians share with each other.
King of Salem also has Michael Petrucci drumming and that guy is awesome.
