White Hills is one of my favorites, saw them do a blowout set at the Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh NC last month, awesome band. And I'd love to see Ufomammut, hoping they make it to the US now that Neurot is putting out their record over here. Last night- Saw 90 minutes of Public Image Ltd (JOHNNY ROTTEN!) at 930 Club then hit up the second half of The Melvins (KING BUZZO!) at Black Cat, in DC. Both were, predictably, killer. Biblical Proof of UFO's last night was awesome and so was Weedeater a couple of days ago (Sourvein and Vitus were solid as well). Going to see Vitus again this afternoon and possibly Big Business tomorrow night... then Hull, Behold! The Monolith, The Fucking Wrath and Destroy Judas on tuesday night. That's as far as I can think right now without saying that i'm also going to the Neurosis, Yob and Voivod show over and over again ;) |

Really jealous that you're getting to see TOMBS tonight! Their album has been out for a year and a half now, but so far no shows west of like, Columbus Ohio (where you're at). |

A little update: Last: Ufomammut. Pretty much the best show i've seen in a long time - A powertrio when they are best. They played all of ORO and did it so well. Like all their material, Oro grows when played live. They really create a unique "compact" sound - maybe a bit like YOB and Mike Scheidts sound. Next up is german funeral doom: Worship |

Last was Generation of Vipers w/Drose. Next will be Maserati and Majeure next Friday. Krieg and Wolvhammer are playing this Sunday night but I don't see me making it out. Getting old and working early sucks sometimes. That show will be awesome for sure. |

Really jealous of anyone who gets to see that Maserati/Majeure dealio. They even toured together last year, but again it was strictly an east coast thing. Seeing the Melvins in Vegas was cool. Way pussy crowd and it was easy to get to the front of the stage. Kevin Rutmanis' new band Hepatitis opened and it was good to see him and his hips back in action. LAST - Eternal Tapestry and Midday Veil on Thursday NEXT - Thrill Jockey 20th anniversary show on Friday with Trans Am, Liturgy, Eternal Tapestry, Barn Owl, Mike Scheidt and some others. NEXT NEXT - Loss and Worm Ouroboros next Sunday. |

You aren't missing/didn't miss anything. Saw this bill last week in Richmond, Krieg was pretty decent (a friend from here is filling in on guitar for them) but Wolvhammer and Doomsday were kinda whatever. The opening band that night wiped the floor with all the touring bands, a new Richmond trad death metal supergroup called Organ Donor featuring the two dudes that recently bailed out of Cannabis Corpse, Nick Poulos (Parasytic, Volture) on guitar and Andy Horn (Battlemaster) on vocals. This was their second show, I don't believe they have recorded anything yet but this is definitely a band to watch out for as they develop toward the top notch. They were far-and-away the best band that night. LAST- Witch Mountain (!!) / Castle / Druglord NEXT- Corrosion of Conformity / Royal Thunder / ASG |

For a while it seemed Columbus was getting passed over for even the obvious shows. Lately, we've been treated to dream bills like Maserati/Majeure and in nice small clubs. That Thrill Jockey showcase looks pretty sweet! |

Last: Big Business? Next: Not sure, Witch Mountain maybe. I think I blew my ear drum out blowing it and have an inner ear infection. That and listening to earbuds too loud. I saw the Meat Puppets do a free show in an art gallery the other week, it was a Friday night, the beer was $2 a can and the band was smoking pot onstage. They ended with a 10 minute noise jam featuring their first EP and "Fuck You!" It was the best show I've seen by them. |

Oh wait, I saw Melvins Lite at the Masonic Temple on the Hollywood Forever grounds. The wind was blowing hard that night and the band was on date 50 of 51, it had a spooky vibe, good times. |
