Last: Eric McFadden on NYE.

Next: Opening for a band outta Denver by the name of Cloud Catcher in Feb.

Might catch another show before then, but nothing on the radar so far...

LAST - VENOM, Inc on Monday. 2/3rds of the original lineup! They tore it up! The Cronos fill-in guy is great!

NEXT - Probably Stephen Pearcy of RATT next weekend.

Old timey shows for me lately!

I thought Venom Inc. was badass. Anybody who turned their nose up to that show due to the absence of Cronos fucked up. In Richmond, Ryan from Municipal Waste got onstage with John Gallagher from Raven (currently a Virginia resident) and they all covered "Motorhead". A fantastic display.

Last show was like 4 years ago. High on Fire, I think. B.C. (Before Children)

Next show: Iggy Pop, April 11 @ The Orpheum in Boston. Probably the only chance I'll get to see Iggy, plus I've never been to The Orpheum.

Then, I just grabbed tix for both Pearl Jam dates at Fenway Paahk in August. Those will most likely be my last PJ shows.

2016!

Last - local hardcore/crust at a punk pub, think it was This Ends Here and Regret. Gran Collapse couldn't play, was a bit too incoherent to gather why not but someone on crutches got on the mic to apologise. Italian hc legends Raw Power headlined, was fun.

Missing DIS tonight :-(

Might make Malignant Tumour/Human Cull/Regret next week, meant to scan and post the flyer at work today, it's a classic.

NEXT TO LAST - The Soft Moon about three weeks back. Totally killer. One of the best shows I saw last year and this one was just about as good.

LAST - Sadistic Intent on Friday. They totally shredded, but that was way too cramped and violent for me to really get into it. I'm turning into an old softie.

NEXT - Cannibal Corpse and OBITUARY next Thursday. Kind of the same fare as Sadistic Intent (albeit probably less real chops) but it'll be in a lot be a lot bigger place.

Hey, my LAST show was Soft Moon too, three nights ago

Tonight I have a choice: Carcass or Black Tusk?!?

Not really a choice at the current moment as Carcass is opening for the first Slayer show in Richmond in 25 years, which is sold out. If I can manage a pass, I'll see that. If not I'll end up seeing Black Tusk : (

EDIT- got in far Carcass disaster narrowly averted! :)

LAST- actually caught Carcass, Testament, Slayer AND Black Tusk night before last. Carcass was excellent and Slayer was really good too, I still literally have a sore neck. Enjoyed Black Tusk as well!

NEXT- 'famous' acts in town tonight are Joe Jack Talcum from Dead Milkmen and The Queers at different venues, but will probably see the weirdo bill- Dumb Waiter and Wandcarver.

Coming up next week- nationwide Neil Young movie double feature with live Q&A, Fight Amp/Creepoid, Taake/Young and in the Way, Sheer Mag/Downtown Boys.

Fight Amp/Creepoid ought to be a good show...have you seen those bands before?

I saw Fight Amp 2 weeks ago (wasn't my first time)... I really like them live, but not into their recorded stuff.

Last: Black Sabbath at Madison Square Garden.
Next: Rangda/Alan Licht
Then: Charalambides/Marcia Bassett & Samara Lubelski

First time seeing Sabbath after 15+ years of love, appreciation, moments of worship. Enjoyed it the indoor sold out arena experience of Madison Square Garden. Was able to burn to my leisure pretty much the whole time, 6th row seats on the Geezer side of the stage. "Into the Void" sounded huge and heavy as fuck, latest song they played was "Dirty Women" off Technical Ecstasy. So glad I finally saw 'em and they were great.

Dnice, I've seen Creepoid maybe 3-4 times, at first I wasn't feeling them but the last time they were right heavy so now I'm down with 'em. Been seeing Fight Amp since the Fight Amputation days, maybe 8-9 times by now. Like ron, I like them live more than on record, so I'll keep seeing them as long as they keep coming around. Windhand's Dorthia Cottrell is warming up that show, which is the day after tomorrow.

Missing eyehategod and weedeater because I'm working 90+ hours a week now. Fuck it, don't see anyone from this board anyway to speculate how many times godshifter has been raped.

I saw UXO in Philly in February... Fucking awesome! I'm a gigantic Chris Spencer fan and he and Austin are a seamless fit together on stage. Thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Last: Earthless and Ecstatic Vision. Earthless is not my usual type of band, too jammy, but I was somehow in the mood, drunk enough to float in space, and that drummer is a fucking MONSTER.

Next: Next couple of weeks are crazy..... Melvins/Napalm/Melt Banana.... HOF/Abbath (might have to skip that).... GRAVES AT FUCKING SEA.... EyeHateGod....

Graves at Sea were fierce when I saw them last year.

Last - local bands putting night on Dark Mother/monolithian tour. Caught the last few minutes of This Ends Here, mseen them before, couldn't tell you what sort of sound that is - crust but with screamo vokills and slow bits?
DM are a two piece (g/d) who struggled to get a big enough sound, frankly they could have done with a bassist but may have just been they didn't have full kit with them. I think they're a newish band, material was good but could do with developing. Obvious Acid King comparison given the vocals. Indeed monolithian got vocalist up with them later to do Electric Machine.
Monolithian also two piece (b/d) but had good full sound. Quite a range really, some fast thrashy elements, grim doom, EWiz s/t and Holy Mountain influences...

Next - ROADFUCKINGBURN in a week

I went and saw Moontooth a couple weeks back. They put on a great show, and they were good guys! Partied with them a bit, now get to play a couple shows with them, which is the bees knees....

I'm going to see The Sword and Royal Thunder next week. I really liked The Sword's last record, High Country, so we'll see how it translates live!!

Never could get into Royal Thunder's albums, they came across as kind of boring to me, though we'll also see how that goes over with me live....

Next Heavy show: Voivod @ Dante's in June. Hopefully, something else will peak my interest before then.

LAST - Since my last post (the Obituary show), I've seen MAGMA, SLAYER/Testament/Carcass, Cutthroats 9, Lycus and Abbath/High on Fire. Six shows in six weeks, even though it feels like I'm slowing down. It is going to be a busy Spring/Summer for me!

Highlights - MAGMA was really cool. Not my usual cup of tea, but I'm glad I checked it out. SLAYER blew me away! I really wasn't expecting much, but they're a fucking machine! LYCUS was incredible! Death-doom from Sacramento! All guys in their mid-twenties too! Kind of rare that I like a band that young.

NEXT - Stumpfest, which runs Thursday thru Saturday. Like 15 bands are playing, but the highlights for me will be Torche, Thrones, House of Lightning, Helms Alee, Black Cobra, YOB, Taurus.
