Well, Godflesh fucking killed it last night. They started off with 6 songs from the new album and it was HEAVY AS FUCK. What a great band. Great to see they're not just a nostalgia act at this point.

Next: Ghost, in a sold out show. Should be a fun time.

Last: Gordyfest on 9/11. A bushel of Albuquerque bands plus CO's Black Lamb & the almighty SLEEP.

Every single band brought their "A" game & SLEEP completely destroyed.

Next: 9/25 opening for The Skull.

From Fu Manchu Facebook today.
Hello. We are sorry to announce the postponement of our upcoming Euro / UK tour. We have a serious family medical emergency that we need to be at home for. We are going to try to reschedule the tour for early 2016. We apologize to all those who bought tickets and made travel arrangements.

It's been over 10 years since I visited Portland to see Yob and Witch Mountain. I'm starting to get the itch to take a trip somewhere for a great show.

Do it, brutha! Portland still has yet to be totally taken over by DJ/club culture. The clock is ticking.....

I'm hitting this in November down in San Antonio. Best festival lineup since the old Emissions lineups imo...

Last night - El Ten Eleven @ The Sinclair (Cambridge, MA)
if I could describe them..especially after seeing them live for the first time...
maybe poppy Zombi meets Ghost In The Machine era Police with some Boards of Canada mixed in. All instrumental, 2 piece band. 1 guy plays various guitars and basses, but often plays a double neck guitar/bass...runs numerous riffs/guitar and bass melodies through pedal loops. Drummer has a pretty full kit, including roto toms and an electronic kit to the side. Really killer.

Here's an example;

Next;
Clutch & Pepper COC in New Hampshire

So much bass!
Nebula and Kyuss in the tone and lead and riffs, kraut missions into hyperspace, Sabbath licks swamped in treble reverb and swirling lasers. One hour, half a cider, home for toast.
Think they played Bedlam, Quad, Widow maker, something I forget, Cardinal Fuzz, Long gone, Stooge and Spliff Riff. Standout probably Quad.
Apparently there was some killer merch, I saw two guys brandishing broken bottles over the last orange splatter vinyl.

Next - could be Hey Colussus, not Ufomammut, Trijppy Wicked playing Bristol week after.

LAST - GOATSNAKE and Black Breath on Sunday. Goddamned if GOATSNAKE just didn't level the place! So good! WAY underattended though because Uncle Acid was playing across town. WTF??? It's the fourth time I've got to see them and was definitely the BEST!

NEXT - Negura Bunget and a bunch of localish folky black metal bands on Friday.

Next - Bloody Show/Down-Fi (featuring living legend Craig Bell)/Cheater Slicks on Saturday, the 3rd. Also, Paul McCartney on the 13th.

Last - Worship set was short but rad.
Next - RIDE @ the Crystal

Might be tempted to check out Manilla Road. Panic Room venue is intimate, pretty cool. Seems there's more seating space dedicated for drinking than square footage to check out bands. (Good ol' Portland...)

Last- Autechre last night. A monumental beast of IDM sound sculpture. There's really nothing to compare it to... Huge sounds, throbbing bass, skittery beats... Fucking amazing.

Next- probably Bongzilla, unless Spirit Caravan sneaks in there beforehand.

Ron, how is The Brought Low's Setlist like these days? You think there's any new songs/possible album talk from that crew? Or they just like to play out once in a while at this point? Fan f-ing tastic live band. Saw them about 5-6 years ago at Great Scott in Allston, Mass...and I felt like i was listening to a studio recording. It was superb

They play roughly once every 2 months, and mix it up a little. Blues for Cubby is the one that makes every set.
From the first album, What I Found gets the most time (my favorite song), Goddamn God Bless, Motherless Sons, Kings & Queens, and Hot N' Cold get occasional play. Last week, they played Deathbed, but that's rare.
From Right On Time, they play Vernon Jackson and This Ain't No Game the most. Sometimes... A Better Life and Tell Me. I wish they would start playing Dear Ohio and Shakedown, but I haven't heard them in years.
Normal songs from the Third Record are Old Century, Everybody Loves a Whore, and the Kelly Rose. Every now and then they play Matthew's Grave and Favorite Waste of Time.
Sometimes they do a couple songs from the CoExtinction EP... I think those are their weakest live songs.
They often will mix in a cover, and that varies a lot... Motorhead, or some hardcore song, or last week, they covered Baba O'Riley (which was cool).

I don't know of plans for another record, but Ben often does acoustic shows where he tries out new material. Some of the songs wouldn't work on a TBL record, but I imagine he's got more than half an album of songs which would convert well to being plugged-in. Some are really good.

LAST - Manilla fuckin' Road on Monday, which was AWESOME!

NEXT - I "might" go see Today is the Day at the vegan bar on Saturday, but probably not, so I'll say it's gonna be seeing Truly in a couple of weeks.
