Been thinking about this one for a while and in light of everyone in the picture thread posting about their haircuts, thought I'd ask:

I've been wearing band shirts pretty much every day (exceptions for occasions like funerals) since I was 16. I know people have to wear other stuff for jobs and whatnot, but are there any alternatives for casual dressing besides other kinds of black t-shirts? I've yet to find anything else I'm even remotely comfortable in.

I wear a lot of work type shirts by Carhart or Dickies, and get those at Sears. I wear them at work, but elsewhere too. They're comfy and sturdy.
Also I personally have no problem with button down short sleeve plaids or solid shirts, darker colors, no hawaiian or any crap like that. Dickies actually makes some of those too.

a good button-up short sleeve shirt is always a good bet. i've gravitated to those more than t-shirts lately.

or a muumuu.

I'm a fan of the long sleeve henley shirt, which is what I wear when I'm not in biz caz mode or rockin' the obscure butt rock t-shirt.

And flannel, because it's always 1993 in Casa Arz.

As a person of weight I can't wear band t-shirts because the only band that makes my size is Crowbar of whom I only have the one shirt I wear to concerts.

I usually wear shitty beer t-shirts got a couple guiness shirts and a harps shirt and I have this one Russian vodka shirt my sister got me in Europe.

I really like the 100% cotton, single color shirts from Basic Editions and Faded Glory. Thick material, simple, comfortable, and cheap. Otherwise I just keep an eye out for any novelty/funny shirts that look interesting. I've bought quite a few t-shirts from http://shirt.woot.com and have been completely satisfied with all of them.

Lets see when I am not wearing this awesome uniform ( heh yea right the only thing cool about it is its flame retardent ) I will usually go for dickies workshirts or carhardt workshirts. Sometimes flannel longsleeves are acceptable ( but only if you have bad ass sideburns, and a HUGE belt buckle) I also like those cowboy longsleeves that have the snap buttons, but everybody else thinks that I am dumb for liking them. They are the shit, and if you get caught up in a tryst you can rip it off w/o tearing shit up.

I'm pretty square, so I only wear band shirts like less than half the time. I also wear a lot of sports stuff, not because I'm a jock, but because I spend a huge amount of time watching the four major sports. Unfortunately, both are seen as variations on the "low class lug" theme, so I've been working on adding some button up shirts to the mix. It's working out pretty good for me. Girls keep saying "That shirt is nice." or "That looks good on you." No wonder all those metro types make themselves up like they're in a production of "Guys and Dolls".

I do draw the line at those shows where a gay guy is giving fashion advice to straight men. I'm the last guy to gay bash, but I don't like the idea of some guy dressing me up like a Ken doll while a crowd of women squeal with laughter. It's coming from a different place entirely, but they will never get that. They say they do, but they don't.

I have a couple red bands shirts with black writing, which I really like. I like gray ones also, and I have some brown ones too.

I have some old tees with various non-band prints that I wear from time to time, mostly navy blue. I have an old Thrasher magazine tee, and also a tee with a schematic from an old Fender amp on it that I'll sometimes wear.

I also like cowboy shirts and flannels, but not as much as zip down hoodies.
