squarepusher?
I'm watching the video for "come on my selector", and I have to say, without reservation, that this is some of the worst shit I have ever listened to in my life

Shitty ambient, and even worse electronic dancy shit.

I liked the Squarepusher, actually. That's pretty cool, I hadn't heard that. I listen to a lot of stuff like that these days.

If we're going to talk 90's electronica though, this is my pick:

Been listening to a lot of Air, Boards Of Canada, and The Orb lately.

That was a bit harsh of me. Bad day yesterday. It's obviously not the worst thing Ive ever heard, but really wasn't the proper thing for my headspace at the time. Apologies.

yeah, I had a really frustrating day yesterday myself. That said, I shouldn't have shown aplogy for my musical selection. I've actually grown into a lot of this type of electroc stuff over the past several years. And I bet if I started a seperate thread, there would be some humble responses in favor of this sort of music.

a few of the bands West Mass mentioned plus some more contemporary shit.....

Zombi ofcourse
Black Moth Super Rainbow
El Ten Eleven
Urlich Schnauss
MGMT
M83
Daft Punk
Washed Out

basically, there are bands/solo artists out there that are doing a nice job at combining electroc/synth type stuff with atmosphere. Not necessarily dancey either. Just good music

Great call on M83. That band RULES. Like keyboard driven shoegaze...

This song is my jammy jam...

Got a good one for you midwestern lovin rock folk (looking at you, Dnice)

Bloodnstuff.
From Minnesota. They opened for Fu Manchu tonight, and KILLED IT.
2 piece. Drummer, and a guitarist that runs two outputs from his guitar. One to two guitar rigs, and the other to a bass rig. Switches the bass stuff in and out.
I'm listening to the album (free download with the sweet vinyl I bought) It's solid, but these guys live were about as good of an unknown opener as I could've hoped for.

definitely catchy, that's for sure. Almost radio ready quite frankly, especially their song "Give Me a Call". strong vocals. Sort of more in line with today's stoner rock (Sword, Torche, etc.) than classic midwest math changing tempo. But these guys have something going, not totally suprised they are on tour with Fu Manchu. Good for them

the midwest style stuff was much more evident live, at least to my ears.

Didn't even think about how great of a pairing these guys & torche would be.

Good band for sure. Almost didn't check them out because of the name, but anytime there's a Torche comparison, I'm game.

Strong vocals for sure, sounds a bit like The Sword's singer with more range and less strain. I can hear the Midwest thing in the angularity of the riffage and hooks.

I like these guys. Awful name, but that's the breaks. The vocals are definitely accessible enough for almost prime-time.

Yeah, agreed. And that's coming from a guy who has played in many, many bands with awful names. Check my sig for proof.

I don't have many regrets, but I will always lightly kick myself for not hitting that Shiner reunion show in NYC. When I saw that set list afterwards...there was a very audible "F Me". I assumed it was "The Egg" being played mostly in its entirety with some other few random songs sprinkled in. Little did I know it was a dream greatest hits set. Oh well, maybe next time if there is one. Speaking of KCMO....I'm not sure this band ever came up in these threads...

The Storied Northwest. Bandcamp to their self titled below. Typical Big rock sound with atmosphere. Lots of Giants Chair and later era Shiner sounds, and Some parallels to The Life and Times and The Stella Link. Pretty cool listen

Shiner just put up a cryptic post ,on their facebook, with this image:

Image

"man. it'd be cool to see this spinning, i might come unglued. maybe we can come to a rearrangement."

If this means another tour, I will be super excited.

I will always be a fan of Subarachnoid Space...especially "The Red Veil", so it doesn't surprise me that I took to Eight Bells right away, seeing Melynda Jackson is at the helm.

Really digging the Eight Bells new release "The Captain's Daughter" upon first listen. I'd actually prefer if they just stayed all instrumental, cause I don't think Jackson's vocals are all that strong, but I've always been a fan of her guitar style/tone.

Have a listen to this "exploratory rock"

Considering the line-up that is most current, it wouldn't surprise me if Starless gets the vinyl treatment first.

Also, a 2-piece instrumental group from Philly called Six Acre Lake. Kind of makes me think if Don Cab and Zombie jammed together. Not bad
