(I'm posting this on both forums as an experiment in awesomeness)

I'm an idiot for sleeping on them for so long (and for many other reasons, I know).

In other news, who all is here? Anyone cleverer than MJS? Please?

Looks like I moved to a place w/o internet access just in time for SR.com to crap the bed, permanently. Kinda cool to have the full run of forum features, finally.

NOW PLAYING: Nightbringer - Apocalypse Sun

I wish they had more material.

I dig the hell out of The Chasm. Awesome freakin' arrangements, but the playing itself doesn't get too techy to lose my interest.

Don't know anything about The Chasm, but welcome LukeCubed. I was hoping you would migrate over here. That Inquisition album you sent has dominated my playlist ever since. \m/

I don't own anything by them. Nor do I know anything about them. I did see them many, many years ago and they were highly entertaining. Every metal band should speak in broken English between songs.

That being said, welcome aboard Luke. Hope things are going okay for you.

I got their last album based on the overwhelming positive reviews and am down. Catagorized as "death metal" but they seem to be that rad thrashy/progressive hybrid of whatever Sepultura was in the late 80's/early 90's.

I guess these guys have broken up? :(

WHOAH, a Phantos sighting? And Justin is afraid to come here? This place RULES.

So, yeah, The Chasm seem to be thee superior band doing the whole "new old-school death metal" thing, yes? In terms of total artistic/aesthetic presentation, I mean. Seems leagues ahead of almost everything else (most of which I dig, btw). Their only real competition would be Portal, if Portal even counts.

While we're on the topic, as far as "South-Americans-now-living-Stateside-playing-metal" goes, that Inquisition album that BA mentions completely crushes and is easily my black metal album of the year. It's basically what I wish All Shall Fall had been. HIGHLY recommended. I'll start a thread about it eventually.

Inquisition is being added to my portable player now.

Speaking of other death metal awesomeness, I spun Undergang - Indhentet af Døden today. that's some awesome old school type shit.

For some reason I was thinking about Voivod listening to the YouTube clip posted above. But a more organic, death-metally thrashy Voivod.

I guess I'm wrong in that assumption? I thought I read it in a blog or review somewhere. I had a question mark at the end there, so I was asking there myself to folks more "in the know" than I.

I've heard a bit of Inquisition and the riffs seem to be there, but the vocals are crossing the threshold of ridiculousness for me. I'm a pretty open-minded heavy metal fan, but even I've got limits. I think maybe it's something I'll need to pummel myself with until I get over it/tune them out.

Ok, so new Inquisition is pretty fucking awesome. thanks for the recs.

As for The Chasm, according to Daniel Corchado the next album might be instrumental. Don't know if that's a good or a bad thing, but with this band I'm sure it'll turn out completely awesome either way.

To me, they're almost identical to Immortal...still sounds like Popeye the Sailor. They don't amaze me or bother me; they're just there. It's mainly the guitar riffs on this album that keep me mesmerized.
