Because there will never be enough guts, gore 'n meaty riffs:

Decrepitaph: filthy old school death duo from the states

Decimation: Turkish band, if you like older Nile, surprisingly good

Demiurg: swedish/dutch band w/ some death metal ususal suspects atmosphere and thick riffs. you'll love it

Bloodbath: no one mentioned these cats? Swedish all star death band first ep+album were really good.

Edge Of Sanity: Crimson. only death/doom metal opera ever. And older struff is also okay.

Hesper Payne: Britain's best kept death/doom secret, weird but awesome

Mithras: very spacy, techy death metal with a huge Morbid Angel influence, also from britain

IN-Quest: Belgian's own. Their latest, 'Made out of negative matter' is a sci-fi tech death metal masterstroke heart, guts and incredible playing

Decapitated: Polish hard-hitters, on tour in the states I think.

Vader: Seriously, no one mentioned them earlier? Classic stuff.

Blood Red Throne: Have some good stuff.

Aborted: Belgian gore-grind death metal.

Benighted: French Death Metal, not overly spectacular but very efficient

Nader Sadek: new artsy DM project that pisses al over the new morbid angel and includes som famous people like Blasphemer and Steve Tucker

Carcass: no comment

Exhumed: see above

Nocturnus: 'The Key' Classic Florida death as good as it gets.

and 'obscure band of the week': Hellwitch. Floridian death metal of the finest kind with added weirdness.

Yes to Asphyx... Very sludgy DM, I like. Also rec'd: The Rack, Death... The Brutal Way.

Check out the track from the first Disma full-length, it's ultra brutal with appropriately guttural vox from Incantation's lead vocalist: http://stereogum.com/739071/disma-vault-of-membros-stereogum-premiere/franchises/haunting-the-chapel/

Disma has a demo, which rules.

You gotta hear Morbid Angel's Blessed are the Sick and Covenant....

Martin Van Drunen can do no wrong in my book...while Asphyx and Hail of Bullets have been mentioned, make sure to check out his two albums with Pestilence, Consuming Impulse and Malleus Malifecarum...his albums with Comecon (way back in 1993) and Death By Dawn are also worth a spin...if only he'd been able to cut a couple albums with Bolt Thrower...

Pestilence does indeed rule. Props to The Rack as well, that's my favourite Asphyx.

I was just staying away from the more obvious of the genre as 20 people yell out bolt thrower or morbid angel. I'm pretty sure Mr. Aspirin has those more than covered

That's very generous of you, but I don't think we can assume Aspirin has any clue, ever.

I dunno, I pointed out your douchiness years ago...I think that's proven to be pretty astute.

You might have to just download Gorguts's Obscura, since that album is one of them rare high priced one. I like their follow up From Wisdom to Hate a hell of a lot, too. Haven't heard the first 2.

Update.

Really digging Hail of Bullets. Dirty, sludgy death metal.
Krisiun's 'Conquerors of Armageddon' is badass. Fast and intense, and technically impressive.
Belphegor! Fuckin' metal.
The new Autopsy. Yes.

Much more to download; thanks for all the suggestions.

And DAMN. Heavyistheaxe recommended the new Whitehorse, 'Progression'. Death Doom done amazingly well; very Corrupted-like. \m/

Ah Incantation, great filth one of the first dm bands I listened to.

Which reminds me of Daniel Corchado:
Check out The Chasm !

and Mortem as well as the older Sepultura stuff (Beneath & Arise) South American heavy metal of death is pretty nasty and good.
