I'm thinking Rubber Factory kind of thing. I've got Left Lane Cruiser, Buffalo Killers, Urban Junior. Anymore for anymore?

Thickfreakness is great. Rubber Factory, Big Come Up are aces.

Edit Sorry 3 hours of sleep, totally out of it I didn't see the bands like part. Carry on.

The Early Black Keys stuff is pretty often an imitation of Junior Kimbrough. That's a good place to start. For more modern bands The North Mississippi All Stars took that same influence into a more southern rock direction (also a little jam band-ish, which is not my thing but they get away with it).

The Bassholes and The Immortal Lee County Killers have similar two man blues things goin' but with more punk influence. Both are excellent.

...and, y'know, there was this duo from Detroit that did a similar thing with more of Dylan/Young songwriter aspect mixed with some old country and some Beefheart type weirdo blues. They were like, brother and sister or something...

I'd say skip them completely and go for R.L. Burnside or the Jelly Roll Kings.

If you want some raw, rocking blues check out Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart, Johnny Winter...And Live, Paul Butterfield's East-West or Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green era) Live at the Boston Tea Party.

I think the point of the OP was to find modern day, active bands not the old timers we all know of.

I don't know if the op wanted current bands or not, but there's always the Sonics, and the already mentioned R.L Burnside. A good record of his that is more nasty is the one he did with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, "Ass Pocket Full of Whiskey" There's also Radio Moscow.
