Recorded by Benny Grotto at Mad Oak studios, so predictably enough it sounds brilliant.

If you have facebook, here be the link for a listen -

Muchly impressed, looking forward to the album.

I've been lucky enough to be listening to this for the last week. It's a fantastic record. From the guitar tones, drumming, leads, vocals, lyrics, mood. All that.

And bear with me, I am on a bunch of whiskey right now, but it seems like it should be an socially important record. Something people should pay attention to. For obvious reasons. It's full of pain, anger, and rejuvenation. Plus lots of good ol' fashioned "fuck it, let's get fucked and party."

I have the album to review for The Sleeping Shaman...it is fucking fantastic...it's like the naked wrestling scene in Women In Love between Oliver Reed and Alan Bates but with bigger beards and some tasty punk playing in the background!!!

Just for fun, try to guess what guitar amp is responsible for the tones (the rhythm guitar on the left is the same throughout; we swapped that one out on a couple tunes to do the rhythm guitar on the right).

Hi, John! Nope, it's not a Peavey.

Something small. Low-wattage...

Close enough...double it: '62 AC30. No pedals, brilliant channel, volume at about 2o'clock.

I'm jazzed on the amp cuz it's my newest purchase. Gotta brag about the new toys, y'know? :)

The other amp - which is the right-side rhythm guitar on about 1/3 of the songs -- was what we call the "tone monster". It's a custom thing built by our friend Rob Lohr, who runs a boutique amp company called Allston Amplifciation.

I'd love to; I love the geek stuff!

Like I said Gtr left was my '62 AC30. Gtr right was either the AC30 or our custom Tone Monster through a Marshall 4x12 (with vintage 30s, if I'm not mistaken). Durel played his own guitar, can't remember the make off the top of my head. Scott might, though. Mic'd with a 57 and a 421.

Bass was SVT through an Ampeg 8x10 fridge. Danny played his own bass; again, can't remember the make/model. Mic'd with a Beta 52.

Drums were one of the Mad Oak house kits...probably the DWs. Cut everything in four and a half days. Drums, bass, and gtr left were cut live, with punch-ins where needed, in about two days. Guitar right was an overdub. Solos and vox were all ODs. The guys killed everything, including overdubs, in two or three takes. Good stuff.

On the tune "Hawgjaw" (which will probably have a different title on the record itself), Scott Hamilton (of Small Stone fame) swung by with an Ebow. It was Durel's first time using one, and after a quick tutorial from Scott, he picked it up insanely fast. There's two tracks of Ebow on that song, and if I remember correctly, they're from takes two and three.

Thanks very much for visiting my thread and posting all the set up info, as already said by Skillet please give us more on future releases if you have the time. I am a lapsed sound tech, I work in finance now but sound is what I studied and after a few years out I'm getting the music bug back!

A marshall 4 x 12 with vintage 30s, one of my weapons of choice - great speakers. I will stop now before I go all geeky and name the model, year it was made etc (it does have Jim Marshall's signature inside in pencil though so not new!)

Heh, yeah, he hits the shit outta them.

Actually, I was re-remembering (is that a word?): he didn't use the DW. He was using our giant-ass kick drum, it's like 28", and I think it was a Tama. I remembered because that fucker was a MAJOR pain in the ass to sit in the mix (big kick drums are notoriously difficult to record and mix). He probably also use our Vistalite toms, cuz the DW toms woulda sounded a bit "off" with that giant kick.

If work didn't block Facebook, I'd be all over this song. Last time I saw Suplecs was probably 8-9 years ago. There were a total of 8 people at the show and we were not disappointed. They were really tight live and so fucking loud.
